Fees

One notable characteristic of many studios is to put off any discussion about money, or any disclosure concerning charges, until the last possible moment.  Our conviction at Bronze Age is that the better a perspective student understands what he might want to allocate in terms of his time and funds, the more successful he will be in his dancing.

One-hour private ballroom lesson – $49

We prefer to teach one-hour lessons here.  For new students, this permits more than one dance to be covered in a lesson, allows time for practice, and plenty of opportunity for individual questions and general discussion.  As a few moments are always needed to transition into and out of a lesson, expect a minimum of 55 minutes of instructional time in your one-hour appointments.

If you are taking your one-hour lesson alone, your cost for the lesson is $49.  This is not an introductory “special”; this is the rate you will always pay!  Ohio does not levy a sales tax on ballroom lessons at this time, although we see no reason the legislature wouldn’t enact a new tax for us.  In truth, similarly beneficial industries such as martial arts schools have long been subject to sales tax, and the ballroom profession needs to do its part for our State and her beautiful inhabitants.

This lesson you take “alone”, we term a private lesson because you have hired the instructor for your exclusive use.  If you don’t have a partner other than your instructor, “you” means you personally.  If you bring a partner to your lesson, your fee doesn’t increase, because you still only need one instructor.

One benefit to taking private lessons at Bronze Age is that your lessons really are private.  The only instructor in the studio is your instructor.  The only dancers on the floor are the ones you bring to the lesson.  The only music that is playing is the music for your lesson — not someone else’s Samba while you’re learning Cha Cha.

Private ballroom lessons for two couples

Your instructor at Bronze Age is willing to teach a second couple who comes with you the same material at the same time, but you must make the arrangements.  We don’t recruit others to attend your lessons, nor can we ensure that someone who promises to attend will actually come.  But if you agree with another couple to share a private lesson together, the total fee will be the same $49.  For space reasons, we do not teach private lessons with more than four students.

One-hour group class – $10 per person

We also offer what most dancers term group classes; these are one-hour lessons on a specific topic as published in our studio calendar.  These lessons are shared by as many students as choose to come, although for space reasons we currently limit enrollment to a maximum of four pupils per class.  The cost per pupil is $10 per lesson, so if you come alone you’ll pay $10.  If you come with your husband, you’ll pay $20.

What’s a little different about Bronze Age group classes is that they aren’t “drop in” classes.  We need you to make an appointment to attend these classes, so we can ensure we aren’t overbooked.  It’s all right if a group class is very small; if you’re the only pupil who shows up, your charge for the hour is still just $10.  But we can’t have fifty pupils in the same class at the same time.  In fact, we don’t even allow five pupils at the same time.

Eight week course – $90 per person

Check out our new eight week course for new dancers who want to learn Bolero, Cha Cha, East Coast Swing, and Rumba in a single combined program.  We’ll be announcing more courses like this in the near future.

No pressure.  No contracts.

People seem so eager today to shackle themselves to another contract.  There’s nothing wrong with having an upbeat, satisfied feeling when you invest in yourself, but why should you leave your dance lesson feeling relieved that you’ve signed up for a boatload of classes?  Did you not enjoy your lesson?  Are you not looking forward to returning?

At Bronze Age Ballroom Company, we want you here for one reason only:  you want to dance here today.  Not because you paid a lot for something.  Not because you’ll lose out on your investment if you don’t return soon enough.  That would take our joy away as much as yours.  So please come and take one lesson at a time, and leave with that cheerful feeling that you invested in yourself every time.
